2 week doctor's visit

Our growing boy is now 8 lbs. 3 oz. and 21 1/2 inches! James' pediatrician was impressed. It looks like James is on his way to becoming a chunky monkey! We had a great visit with the doctor... he answered all our questions and gave James a good looking over. It seems we have a healthy, growing boy!

James Kenneth has arrived!

Our beautiful son arrived on June 2 at 9:02 pm. He weighs 7 lbs 2 oz and is 20 3/4 inches long.







I was in labor for 14 hours total. My contractions began at 7:12 am and I was able to labor at home for about 8 hours before heading to the hospital. My contractions for the first 6 hours or so were all over the place in terms of time apart, but began to really regulate and increase in intensity during the last 2 hours. When I arrived at the hospital, my doctor immediately broke my water and my contractions again increased in intensity and remained very regular. I had an epidural after the first 2 hours in the hospital. Once my pain was under control, I took a nap for about an hour. The epidural did not slow any of the progress of labor. I was 3 cm dilated and 90% effaced when I arrived at the hospital (@ 3:30 pm) and 10 cm dilated and 100% effaced after I took a nap (@ 6:30 pm). I began pushing @ 7:30 pm and had to take a few breaks because James' heart rate would decrease slightly. After lying on my left side and being put on oxygen, he quickly recovered. Finally at 9:02 pm, James made his grand entrance. We are so in love with him!!

40 week update

James' due date has come and gone, and there's no sign yet that he's going to make his entrance into the world anytime soon. There was nothing new, and no changes at the doctor this week. I am scheduled to be induced on June 3rd if things don't happen on their own before then. We are so anxious and excited to meet our son, but we know we need to be patient and wait for the Lord's timing (as hard as that is sometimes). Hopefully our next post will be news of James' arrival and his first pictures!

39 week update

This week's doctor's visit was once again uneventful. There has been little to no progress towards labor. I am scheduled to be induced on June 3rd if James doesn't make an appearance on his own before then. I am not too excited about being induced as it raises the risk for a C-section. Although I am getting impatient for our son's arrival, I trust God's timing. Please pray for a safe and healthy delivery regardless of the means (on its own or induction).
